Men have been marginalized by virtue of being masculine, are unsure of their place and purpose in the world and need to figure out their role in the life they wish to live in, fully, with purpose and integrity. Young men are currently brought up in a world where they are taught that they are part of a negative patriarchy and that they are at fault for so much that is wrong in the world. Women’s liberation has done what it needed to do, but it’s run its course because we went from too much masculinity to too little, and the reverse with femininity. We are still out of balance and men are generally lost, as are women, with the current blurred lines around gender not helping at all. We’ve lost touch with all that is natural and simple. That is why I enjoy retreats into the bush where, with the help of an experienced game ranger, human behaviour is seen in perspective. People can learn so much from animals and from nature.
